VOLUNTEER
Friendship House/Catherine's Place are homes providing an atmosphere
of dignity within which women and women with their children learn to
live sober and become economically self sufficient.
As a caring community of professionals and volunteers, we share a passion to
that mission. We are currently recruiting volunteers for the following areas:
CLASSIFIEDS
DONATIONS COORDINATORS
As mountains of donations come though our doors we need
a coordinator discerning what should be kept, sent to another agency
or tossed. We keep gently used clothing and housewares for our use
and for women who are starting they new lives. This is an ideal project
for a team!
Requirements:
a hand or two (or more), organization, and a keen
eye.
ORGANIZERS
Over 14+ years of our existence we've accumulated at lot of "stuff" and some of it needs to go or be put into use. We have a couple closets and corners that have accumulated all sorts of items.
Requirements:
Discernment, energy, organizational skills, sense of humor and love of seeking lost treasure!
PHONE OPERATOR
Friendly, welcoming voice that directs callers to the appropriate staff.
Requirements:
Must be able to maintain confidentiality! The gift of gab is a helpful
trait here.
QUILTERS
We would love to present each woman and child with a twin size quilt to
use on their bed AND take with them as they leave to create their own home.
Requirements:
Ability to make quilts and sew love into every stitch.
COOKS
Every now and then a home cooked meal just hits the spot. Many women who live at FH/CP are usually new to cooking. Cooks who are good teachers and cooks willing to make a meal for 10-15 people would be a special treat for those here!
Requirements:
Love of cooking, generous heart, willingness to cook for lots of hungry
women and children.
GARDNERS
FH/CP women are expected to tend the yard and gardens and this is another first for many. Those who love to garden and share their knowledge would be very appreciated.

Know the difference between a weed and a plant/flower, willing to cheerfully teach, like plants and people.
HANDY PERSONS
Men and women, boys and girls we need shelves!!! We'd love to have some sturdy shelves put in for storing household items for women leaving our homes. We also have at least one room that needs the windows to be "winterized." This could be a great Boy Scout den activity.
